well it depends do you not know them meaning that like you just met them and they are saying it or you two are friends that just met and they are saying i love you? Like usually when a friend is saying that they love you they are just showing you that they care and would be crushed to lose you that type of thing....they are emotionally attached already....but then if they are saying that they love you and you just barely me than chances are it doesn't mean anything....yeah you can be attached already but if you are just meeting then it is kinda of a weird thing just straight up ask them " hey why do you say i love you" ...you don't want to seem like all excited but then you don't want to seem annoyed ...just be mutual....that's what i think

I would smile and say: " oh u sweet thank u but i wonder where do u know me from? "

We shall be nice with people even the weirdo kinds because you don't know the reason of them saying that:)
