I just mixed my dog's food with beans and was about to give it to him and wonder if beans are okay for dogs?

I can't seem to find anything on the internet.

Update:

BTW, the people that say you shouldn't feed dogs people food... The first 2 ingredient in my Iams dog food is chicken and rice! Hello! That's people food! Duh. I feed my dog meat and veggies and there is nothing wrong with that. Stop that kind of advice. Please.

None of my sled dogs would eat beans, no interest at all. Feeding meat is fine, of course, and vegetables probably don't hurt, but they don't get digested much either, especially raw.

Beans should be alright, yes. I've never read nor heard of the kind of beans we eat as being toxic to dogs. They may cause gas of course, just like they can with a lot of humans (*cough* men *cough), but as for digesting and sitting well in his stomach, it should be okay.

Add: I agree about the people food remark. Some foods aren't good for dogs because of the salt content (like our processed foods that we pop into the microwave, or ramen noodles), chocolate is toxic and can be fatal, grapes, macadamia nuts, etc. But there are plenty of foods that we eat that will be just fine with dogs. Before there was dog food, dogs ate what we ate.

Green beans or baked beans? Green beans are suppose to be good for dogs. They are suppose to help with allergies, tearing eyes and give them a pretty coat. They are also considered a filler if your dog needs to lose any weight.

However, baked beans... not so sure about them.

If you are talking about canned beans check the label for sugar and other contents that dogs should not have. If you are talking about green beans they are a good vegetable for your dog. When in doubt don't do it.

Beans will be fine. They are one of the more basic forms of protein, and are easily digested.
