Washington DC visit locations?
Could some one give me a list of visitor attractions in and around DC. I have a friend coming down on vacation on 3rd July (she want to see the fireworks too) and stay for about a month or so. She will live somewhere close to the Capitol Hill.
Please give some recommendations what to and what not to see along with the list inlcuding zoo's museum's etc..
Any help is greatly appreciated.
PS: Please dont refer me to google or wiki. I have been there and Im looking for a consolidated but yet a detailed list. Thanks a ton in advance.

The popular tourist attractions are all great. They're popular for a reason. Pretty much everything on the Mall, with the monuments and memorials to the west, the Capitol on the east, and the Smithsonian in between. The National Gallery of Art and the National Archives are also there, but I think they're not part of the Smithsonian. Next to the Air and Space Museum is the Hirshhorn modern art museum and they have a pretty cool sculpture garden outside. I think there's another newer sculpture garden outside the National Gallery.
It's also worthwhile getting down to the Alexandria area in Virginia, south of DC, to check out Old Town Alexandria and Mount Vernon.
The Dupont Circle and Georgetown areas are fun to just walk around. Dupont Circle is on Metro, Georgetown unfortunately is not and parking is very difficult.
There are some really beautiful parks. You can walk the C&O Canal trail at several locations, including down in Georgetown. Up near the Maryland-DC border is Great Falls park on the Potomac. Depending on the height of the river, the waterfall there can sometimes be quite spectacular. Even if the water is low, it's a beautiful hike to the river.
Rock Creek Park is a long narrow park that winds through northwest DC and offers many picnic and hiking opportunities.

Eastern Market is in Capital Hill and is great on Saturday and Sunday. I also love the Natural History Museum and Mount Vernen.

Or, when you're flying into Reagan nationwide it would want to probable be a lot extra reachable that you may want to nix the condominium vehicle and take the metro from the airport. in case you insist on making use of although, it would want to be carried out. Pay close interest to the positive print on parking signs and indications, the hours and days variety. area/residential streets are your in basic terms right wager in case you don't desire a allow to park there. you may want to do a storage, yet they are very expensive (ie: $15 flat) downtown. in case you hit upon a parking position, attempt to stroll to anyplace else in the area you'll opt to bypass beforehand coming back. DC is a appealing city to purely walk in, and in case you go away your area, you could wager it really is going to be lengthy gone by ability of the time you end circling the block. you've gotten to PARALELL PARK. there is not any way round that, and it really is going to be tight, so be warned. also, making use of in D.C. is amazingly complicated when you're literally not from the following. site visitors circles, slender streets, one way streets, agressive drivers, and so on. really straightforward to wander off. also, meters are especially a lot continuously free on weekends, federal vacation trips, and after hours (i imagine that is 5 PM, even though it would want to be 6) Have a calming holiday. in case you opt to apply metro and favor to understand what bus/prepare/blend to take, use the link lower than.
