is downloading music from limewire legal?
two questions..
i was always afraid of it being illegal, so i bust my money on itunes...
but even my biology teacher uses limewire!
and yesterday my friend told me that downloading free music on limewire was made legal this year. is this true??
and, even if limewire ISN'T legal, and i was to use it... is there really any way i could get fined, when EVERYONE else i know uses it?

It isn't legal, and yes, you could get fined. Whoever told you that downloading music on limewire became legal doesn't know what they're talking about. Chances are you probably won't get fined, which is why so many people do it (they play the odds) but the chance is still there.

Not legal. Not getting caught doesn't change the legality. I wouldn't trust anyone that tells you that you can't get caught. Downloads can be traced back to the IP address from which it originated.

If you are downloading music and not paying, it's illegal whatever program you are using.
The only way to legally download music is to pay for it.

It has always been illegal but too many people around the world use it, as everyone I know uses it as well, the only way you can get fined is if the police had your computer and found it and if a company like pcworld fixes your computer and finds it on there. But its only file sharing.

Illegal, just like Naspster or any other programs that are free downloading...not too mention free viruses you can get while downloading some songs.

It isn't legal. It is highly unlikely you will get fined, but it is possible, as it has happened before. Either way, support the artists you like by buying CD's or going to shows!
