well there are withdrawal symptoms if you stop abruptly (never stop taking meds abruptly unless your doc says it's ok), usually you have to taper them off if you want to stop. i think maybe you can rely on the medication but taking anti-depressants can be the difference between night and day for some people. 'Addiction' may be the wrong word for it, but your mind gets used to receiving a certain level of medication and of course there is a reaction if you stop.
