Floyd Mayweather Jr., Juan Manuel Marquez, Manny Pacquiao?

Now that the "preliminary" fight is out of the way with Pacquiao destroying Hatton, and Mayweather coming out of retirement to fight Marquez, you've got the two of the best three fighters in the world jockeying for position to fight Pacquiao. Although inactive for a year and half Mayweather should beat an extremely skilled fighter in Marquez (it will be a tough fight for Floyd). Which fighter would win a Mayweather/ Pac Man match up?

Dude, after what I saw last night I'm not so sure Floyd will beat Pacquiao. When they fight, Mayweather better bring his A game. Having said that, I think Money's counterpunching skills will be too much for Pac Man.

P.S. Check out my printed letter in the latest Ring Magazine's Come Out Writing section, about Brian Mitchell's induction into the International Boxing Hall Of Fame.

Brent, Great to see your name on the site again, it's been a while.

Provided that Mayweather beats Marquez, not a sure thing by any standard, the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight will not be what people think. Floyd knows what will happen should he try and out slug Manny, so look for Mayweather to run and pot shot behind a jab, avoid exchanges, and make Pacquiao chase him for 12 boring rounds, most likely in an attempt to win a decision. Morales showed that Pacquiao can be out boxed, so odds are good Floyd will try and minimize the risk of becoming another of Manny's many KO victims by making the fight boring to watch for fans.

In truth, Juan Manuel Marquez is no easy mark, Floyd may not get past Marquez. All the talk of Mayweather vs Pacquiao is doing Juan Manuel a disservice. I for one consider Marquez/Mayweather as much a "super fight" as Hatton/Pacquiao was, and I think Marquez will give Mayweather a lot more trouble than Hatton did Pacquiao. It would not be that big of an upset for Marquez to beat Mayweather, the ring rust must take it's toll on Floyd, Marquez has remained active against top competition, and no one questions Marquez's skill or heart. Juan may be a slight underdog, but not much of one against Mayweather.

I really don't think you can count JMM out so fast....like everyone else is doing. Don't get me wrong, a PBF vs Manny fight would be spectacular, but JMM isn't in the ring just to make PBF look good.

People need to understand that the JMM vs PBF fight is going to be very technical. Both are extremely skilled and both are very, very smart. Of course JMM is the smaller and older man, but I don't think he accurate combos and constant adjusting in the ring comes second to anyone.

Of course, PBFs defense comes second to no one. Both of these fighters are considered counter punchers with Marquez a more offense oriented fighter. I don't think either man has seen the likes of the other. Should be interesting....

i might could say he does have a element, however i ought to easily as with out postpone say Marquez continues to be disenchanted over his fights with Pacquiao. Marquez, whether human beings prefer to admit it or no longer, countered Manny very effectively of their 2 fights, as quickly as he found out that paying for and promoting with Pacquiao replaced right into a bad thought. in my opinion, Marquez gained the 1st combat and could are turning out to be the nod the 2d time, they have been close fights. Mayweather is a grasp counter puncher who, in contrast to Marquez, is amazingly elusive. Manny has in no way confronted a slick boxer like Mayweather, and vice versa. yet he may be hit, and that i will guess that if Manny and Mayweather do combat, funds will win it by ability of countering and by ability of slipping.

hi brent, long time so see!

i think pbf will take jmm to school, ring rust or no, but as for floyd jr vs pac man, i think i'll reserve judgement 'till after the pbf vs jmm fight, but it's probably the biggest fight out there for both right now.
