When dealing with DNA sequencing?

the question for an assignment says: change the nucleotide in the 15th position (from the left) of the original DNA sequence to cytosine.

C T T T T A T A G T A G A T A C C A C A A A G G is the sequence given. Now the part im unsure of it the "from the left" part. So does that mean its the T (started counting from the G) or the A (if i started counting from the C).

Its a ridiculous question, but it would make all my answers either wrong or right. Thanks

I assume left is starting at C.

They should have done a proper notation like 5'-->3' or 3'-->5'.

    good luck.

it would be starting with C=1

    so you'll change the A.
