Getting eyebrows waxed for the first time?

I'm planning on getting my eyebrows waxed for the first time, and I have some questions -

Does it hurt more than tweezing? How long does the pain or redness last?

Are you supposed to choose your own kind of eyebrow shape, or will you be recommended one? I'm new at this and I wouldn't have any idea what kind to choose :|

How much does it usually cost?

How does the process go, and how long does it take?

Is there any chance the person waxing my eyebrows might mess up? I have a fear of that D:

Sorry for so many questions, I just want to be sure before I get them done. thanks!

I find that tweezing hurts more-the waxing does hurt, but when they go in with the tweezers after it does hurt more. The pain only lasts a few minutes, the redness only a few hours.

As far as shape goes, the brow artist will work with what your brows look like and shape them in a way that will flatter your face, based on your bone structure and facial shape. You can say if you want a thinner look but something that is a bit thicker always looks better, in my eyes-a lot of people around my mum's age overplucked and now they wish they had full brows.

As far as costs, it is usually around $20-$25, depending on the salon. The one I used to go to was $23, and there is an Aveda training salon in the area that does $15 for brow design (if you are a newbie at waxing or haven't been in ages) and $10 for maintenance.

The process involves you usually either sitting in a chair or laying down, and then the brow artist will use a little spatula to put wax on one particular area (over a brow, under, or between) and then a piece of cloth to rip the hair off. It seems scary but you get used to it. The whole process usually takes less than 15 minutes.

As far as errors, there is a chance, but a small one. If they accidentally miss an area, you can go in with your tweezers. If they go a little too much, it will grow back eventually. I only have ever had one error and it was when I got wax on my (at the time) new jeans and afterwards I had the worst breakout of my life-I don't suggest that you use a facial scrub the day that you get waxed, or 24 hours afterwards.

Trust me though, once you get waxed for the first time, you will not regret it.

im 14 and i get my eyebrows waxed every month. it hurts a little bit, but definitely worth the perfect eyebrows

the person will probably not mess up because they put the wax on and then the paper, so they would know if it was going to look bad.

it costs 8-10 dollars and it take like 5 minutes. the redness last like 2 hours the first time, just bring lotion that is cold (put it in the freezer for a couple minutes before you go) and put it on immediately after. the people usually ask you if you want them thin or normal. depending on what you look like, or you could just tell them to do whatever will look good. go to a higher end salon. not an expensive place, but not a crappy one. i definitely think you should do it, its wayyy better then tweezing. and after you get it done, if you don't like it, you don't have to do it again, just make sure to tweeze little hairs after every couple days.

    hope i helped :]

it depends on if the lady is amazing at waxing, if she is rough then it is going to hurt but if she is really good then it will only hurt a little, if you get it at a nail salon then normally 10 bucks but if it's at a fancy dancy place then 25-40 bucks, it doesn't take long at all, unless there is a wait, but normally 10 minutes. Yes there is a chance the person will mess up your eyebrows. I tell the lady the type of eyebrow i want but i guess you can pick a style. I think twizzing is easier: 1. you can do it your self 2. doesn't cost money 3. It may hurt but you wont get a burn and 4. It's quicker to me.

    hope i helped :)

It really doesn't hurt that much. The redness lasts for a couple hours and it definetly does not hurt as much as tweezing, although they do tweeze a bit. Just tell them you want a natural brow shape ( don't worry, they know what they're doing and won't give you super short eyebrows). It usually costs $8-10 and it takes about 5 minutes. They won't mess up because they're proffesionals. It's not easy to mess up, they're just going along your eyebrow line.

And I'm actually glad you posted this because I had the same exact questions when I got mine done first. Just know that when you come out you'll have natural great looking eyebrows!!!

Email me if you have any more questions! :)

When I get my eyebrows waxed, it cost around $14. It could be a bit more or less.

It hurts quite a bit but it's very quick. It takes a couple minutes.

How long will the redness last? It really depends on your skin type. People with sensitive skin will be red for longer. Hmm..for me 10-20 mins.

The waxer will choose the eyebrow shape for you, so don't worry. She/he will shape them to go with your face.

There's a very small chance they'll screw up. Everybody's human.

Overall, it really depends on the place you go to. Make sure they have a good reputation and everything will be fine.

I got my eyebrows waxed once about i month ago.

And it hurts a little bit. At first, it will be a little red for about 25 minutes. I suggest you close your eyes while they wax them. Also, it only costed about 10 dollars where I went. Certain parts are more sensitive so it will hurt a little. But it goes by fast.

You will probably tear up a little at first but you will get used to it.... I have been getting mine done for like 8 months now and I hardly tear up at all anymore.... try to go home as soon as you can afterwards and put an ice pack on red areas to help that and keep you from breaking out
