How do I burn .AVI files to a DVD so I can play them on my DVD player?

I have a Dell Studio w/4gb ram a 2.5 ghz dual core chip (not sure on the speed) and a dual layer burner. Is there a program I need to download? Is there a free one that works well? or Do I have to pay? What's the best one out there?

There is an easy way, you can try RZ DVD Creator, i have used it, it can create standard video DVD from any movies with title menu and chapter menu, it can directly convert and burn any videos to DVD(DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-DL,DVD+DL, etc), such as avi to DVD, etc.

Work well on my computer, easy to use, inexpensive, i like it.
