Im just like your pretty much! Everyone knows me for munching though bags of sunflower seeds.
Here are benfits of eating seeds/nuts:
Vitamin E (tocopherols) May protect against cardiovascular disease
Betaine May protect against cardiovascular disease
Phenolic acids (chlorogenic acid) Antioxidant and anticarcinogen
Choline Plays a role in memory and cognitive function
Arginine Potential heart benefits
Lignans May protect against heart disease and some cancers; lowers LDL cholesterol and triglycerides
The only true downfall is the sodium. You are only supposed to have a small amount because too much can clog arteries, retain waterweight/bloating, and dehydrate you. Maybe try switching them up to salt-less seed-less sunflower seeds, or eating less.
But honestly, I love them and eat them all the time. Enjoy them!!

One thing I did forget it that be careful not to swallow the shells. While most people are okay, some people Ive known had to get surgery because it supposedly entered the intestines and wasnt fully digested... thus causing a tear. Luckily, I havent experienced that!!

Sunflower seeds and oil contain both monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fat – the types of fat that may protect the heart. Clinical studies show that higher unsaturated fat diets may be preferable even to low-fat diets because they lower total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol, and triglycerides, while maintaining beneficial high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, which is needed to carry the “bad” cholesterol away.(1-2) Almost 90% of the fat in sunflower seeds is good, unsaturated fat.
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that may protect against heart disease by getting rid of harmful molecules called free radicals that can lead to atherosclerosis.Sunflower seeds are the best whole food source of vitamin E.
So munch on!

Too much sodium can do major damage over time to vital organs. How about trying shelled seeds that are unsalted? I find them chewy and quite tasty. Seriously, go buy them bulk (not hulled though), and see if you like them.

too much sodium = high blood pressure = heart attack or other heart issues. try low sodium sunflower seeds but if you work out and eat everything else healthily you should be fine.
