slipping, bobbing, weaving drills?

is there anything i can do at home to improve my bobbing/weaving and slipping?? ( i have a speed bag and a heavy bag)

    Order the "Maize Ball" (slip bag) from Ringside.com and use it. To get help with using it, go to YouTube and search "Boxing slip bag" and "Boxing maize bag", etc. and you'll find tons of stuff. The slip bag exists for:

    1.) Reminding you to move your head while you're shadowboxing.

    2.) Slightly imitating a punch coming at you.

    Do three rounds of that, while shadowboxing (or not, but preferably with).

    In addition to that, you can also tie a rope from one wall to another at armpit or shoulder level and practice your weaving by weaving under it.

    Do three rounds of that as well, while shadowboxing.

    But don't forget to shadowbox without the slip bag or the slip line, so you can practice bobbing and weaving without them.

    Also, if you really have the time, search "Tyson training" on YouTube and you'll see in some training montages how he used the slip bag to so much effect. No one used a slip bag or bobbing and weaving better than Tyson in the 1980's.

    Of course, the heavy bag is a versatile tool for defense and offensive drills. Imagine the heavy bag as your opponent. Push the heavy bag, as it comes back toward you, simulate slipping the left jab by slipping your head to the right and putting up your left glove at the same time to block and repel the bag. Move around the bag and work your bobbing and weaving. Set up a rope or some kind of string from one end of a room to the other. Get in your balanced boxing stance and practice weaving under the rope. Do not pivot your head to the rope as this will put pressure on your neck. The weaving is supposed to put more emphasis on your legs and hips and not your neck pivoting. As you advance, you can practice stepping forward and backward and throwing your combinations at the same time. Work your obliques and abs because a strong core will help you to slip and weave side to side quicker. Have a friend work a defensive drill where there goal is to just throw punches at you while you practice defense by slipping, weaving, and blocking if necessary. Good luck. Train smart.
