I can't seem to be able to get to imperial age in age of empire 2, any help?
Well, I'm on random map, idk if that makes a difference, but I have a lot of buildings, well, one of each new building, and a ton of houses. What else would i need?

I can only think of 2 possible reasons:
1. You don't have the required number of structures. To get to a new age, you need to have a certain number of buildings.
2. In the options menu, did you set it so that all ages are available.

This is the reason u could not get to the imperial age.
to get to the imperial age:
1.You need 800 gold and 1000 food.
2. you have two buildings in castle age like castle or university,siege workshop or monastery.
