Australian Tax Return - 5 years late!!?

I've been a bad girl. I have not completed my tax return for over 5 years. I originally did not do it due to being too poor as I went through uni and I stuck my head in the sand every tax time. As I have been working for the last few years I'm sure I would have paid enough tax to now require some back. I realize I can still be fined but I want to finally get my tax done. I have avoided it for years because I have been too stressed about getting it done. Right now however I am overseas living in Asia. Are there any reliable websites where I could do my tax online? I have all my documentation here with me. I just want to get it over and done with. And yes I realize I won't be able to get the stimulus package. Any advice would be extremely helpful!! thanks

You can do it with the ATO website www.ato.gov.au

Don't worry if you think your tax position will be a refund in the end. You won't get fined. You will just receive a letter that warns you not to do this again. One of my client hasn't lodged TR since 2000, I lodged it for her recently, she received huge amount of refund without getting any fine.

If you lodge yours before 30 June and you end up with having tax paid, you might still be eligible for the stimulus package.

my ex did not do his for 8 years and i did not do mine for 3 we lodged them both together so in total 11 years worth and becuase we were due for returns we did not get fined and still recieved our returns- if u owe them however u will most likely get fined... i asked the accountant at the time about this and the worst he had seen was someone who hadnt done theirs for 23 years! (he also did not get fined as he didnt owe them anything- probably they would have made some interest on his money!) and yes u can do it urself online but make sure u find out how much u can actually claim for stuff.

Only the current year can be done on-line. And this will closed down soon.

You probably need someone like me (a registered tax agent) to do the them.

I can be contacted at betramat@dodo.com.au
