I work for a vet, and we have to deal with them daily because so many people want to get their Heartgard and other long-term medications there instead. Which is fine, but they don't realize what the vet has to go through. How it works is, they send us a fax for the doctor to sign saying its ok for the client to get this prescription through them, then we fax it back. Well, we'll sometimes get 2 or 3 faxes about the same animal and then they'll call and harass us because we haven't faxed it back yet when we already faxed it back the first time they sent it to us. They conveniently lose it. I don't trust these people at all, especially because they get their products from who knows where. Your vet gets them right from the manufacturer.

Frontline is technically not a prescription, so you can get it pretty much anywhere these days. Pick up any pet catalog out there (Drs. Foster & Smith, JB Pet, etc) and you'll find Frontline in it. However, most vets run the "buy 6, get 1 free" special that the Frontline manufacturer sponsors. We do it where I work. When you buy 6 months, you get a 7th month free. Look into it.
