What is the best pet for a 12 year old? Hamster, Rat, Guinea Pig, Rabbit, Gerbil, or a Dog?
I've had a lot of pets in my years so I could be called really experienced. I am also really mature for my age. I was wondering which pet I should get: a Hamster, rat, guinea pig, rabbit, gerbil, or a small dog? Please help me. I have had some of these before and I just was considering another one. Please also list some facts and persuasion, pros and cons about the pets. Thanks!

I think you should get a ferret. It's something different and they're really cool and interesting pets. They are very smart and can do lots of things, you can even walk them on a leash! They use a litter box too, which is easier than a dog, even though they require the same responsibility. Ferrets are nothing like hamsters or rats, they need to be played with for a long time everyday outside of their cage. Think about it, they're a good decision.

Just Get A Pet Turtle. You Need To Put A Small Lamp And Point The Lamp At It. Then Put Some Salad Around It (No Toppings Or Sauce) And Get A Log With The Wood Cut Through In The Middle Of It And A Bowl For It To Drink Water.

well guinea pigs are great pets and relatively low maintenance, they will eat most veggie scraps and sometimes bread crust.
we have 2 guinea pigs and i love them to bits (not literally of course). i have 2 younger siblings that are 13 and 9 who love them just as much as i do and would never hurt them. guinea pigs are great for yong children as they are small and can be cuddled and carried around without much fuss.
their cage should only need cleaning about once a week, if you don't clean it, it will stink and the guinea pig could get really sick.
guinea pigs are probably the best pet i have ever had and i would have more if i was aloud.
good luck choosing a pet you like

hmm, if I had the option to get a dog, I would.
However, you're twelve, and dogs live for around 10-16 years on average. when you're older, you'll be moving on, going to college etc, and it may be a hassle for your dog who will be old by then.
I adore rats, personally, and think a pair of them are just like having miniature dogs, only cuter (in my opinion).
Cons for rats:
Their cages smell if you don't clean them enough.
Boys sometimes dribble pee (but not on purpose)
They have very short life-spans (which can actually be a pro and a con at the same time).
Pros:
They are highly affectionate.
Very loyal, if you spend enough time with them.
They can be taught some nifty tricks, because they are very intelligent (the most intelligent small animal, and perhaps smarter than some dogs)
They are playful (girls moreso, boys are snuggly)
They eat table scraps XD (but not too many, and some foods are not good for them).
And like all pets, they need lots of attention from their owners :D

Dogs rule. I love my three sweethearts. BUT, did you know that true dog lovers like me would rescue their animals from shelters? If you are considering getting a dog or two, please you to your local shelter. These dogs NEED homes. It is not fair to these babies. They need a second chance. They have plenty of cute puppies that don't get big at shelters. They are sweet as ever and condierably cheaper than buying from a pet store or a breeder. I'm 12 too, I can relate. ;)

I got a hamster and he is really cute and is great since we have school. Plus, your parents might get mad having to let the dog out while your gone. Or maybe a cat ;]
