Children of Divorce Class?

I have heard that there is a required class for those that seek divorce when there are children involved. Some say that if there are children from a marriage that you must complete a class called "Children of Divorced Parents" (this may vary from state to state) and include the certificate with the divorce filing.

Does anyone have any info about this from the state of Georgia?

My husband has been absent from our lives for 5 years now. I want to file for divorce, but heard that this "class" is required.

If so, I have no problem with that, but is it true? Do I need to do this and include it with my divorce papers when I file?

I am doing a DIY divorce.

My advice to you would be to call your local county Court House & ask just what the requirements are. This way you will KNOW just what is required, & also know just what is the law. I NEVER heard of such a thing & I've lived in quite a few states in my life time. Get it all straight from the Court House, then there w/be NO questions in your mind to have to worry about. All the best to you...:)
