Get a pitbull. Don't believe all of the negative things. They are wonderful dogs and most of them in shelters are never given a chance. Either way, go rescue a dog instead of buying one from a store that was most likely bought from a puppy mill.

Edit: Fine, vote it down. Pits are great dogs. If you disagree, you are ignorant. Almost all of the Michael Vick dogs, that were trained to fight like any other breed of dog could be, have been rehabilitated and are now part of loving families. If you believe everything you hear on the local news, better build an air tight bomb shelter or the swine flu is gonna kill you and everyone you know!

Border Collie - not coz it's the easy option because it's not - look at the working instincts this breed has - insane! Go watch the sheepdog trials and be amazed. The reason I think this is because of your age - it will be the easiest to handle physically. I think very large dogs like GSDs and Doberman's should really have an adult owner strong enough to physically handle 30-40kg of rippling muscle if needs be.

    Good luck!

Well it depends on what exactly you want in your dog. I have a german shephard/rottwhieler mix. I love him sooo much. Hes very energetic extremely easy to train and extremely smart. Downs though is he is whinny lol. He plays some fetch but would rather tug of war and run wild. Hes extremely loyal.

My friend had a border collie. Very high energy loved to run. He was a very nice loyal dog. =)

EDIT: I also live on a farm like area. He loves it. Lots of room to roam. He doesnt run away or anything. Every dog will love the area to run but border collies are known to be great farm dogs.

I love my big dogs though =D

well i like those breeds a lot but if you could get a dog from a shelter

if you are going to live on a farm it does not matter a whole lot what kind of dog

JACK RUSELL mix is the best

I have a dog i got from the pound and she is knee high (and i am 9)

i know you are probably thinking omg but she runs 3 or 4 times faster than me

and yes i live on a farm with cows and horses (and of course 4 dogs)

if you want pictures of dogs go to www.puppypoopy.com

    alright

aussie- these dogs are really sweet AND cute

collie- these dogs always need to work, my neighbor's dog, a collie, is herding us a round the house ALL the time

German Shepard - they are HUGE i have had one sit on top of me, they are loyal, but hey can be a bit

dobie- i don't know much but i DO KNOW they can be a little aggresive

I WOULD GET YOUR DOG AS A PUPPY

    hope this helps :)

A Border Collie is a smart dog, and the Aussie's are pretty. I always enjoyed my German Shepperd so I say get one of those. German Shepperds train very well.

Check out the dog breed selector quiz on animalplanet.com. It's pretty accurate.

Source(s): I used it and LOVE my dog it selected for me. (American Eskimo)
