Drug Smuggling and locked up Abroad?

I agree with you 100% whenever drug dealers are caught abroad the human rights lawyers come out from under their rocks to fight their corner. Have a star for a very pertinent question.

What are you talking about?

We don't send lawyers abroad to defend people caught drug smuggling in foreign countries. They are on their own facing the foreign justice system and the charges.

We do have consulates and embassies in those counties however. It is the consular officers job to be an advocate and make sure that it's countries citizens are not abused or falsely arrested. They have no real power in those countries but will make sure you don't disappear into a gulag. They are part of the Department of State.

Yes it is innocent until proven guilty but then it's up to you to prove your innocence. If you need a defence lawyer, then you pay for it. You know the rules in these strange countries so just don't do it. If you do you bare the consequences. I guess you are referring to the woman who is held up in Laos. I ask why would you go there in the first place? There's no smoke without fire but let's see what comes out of this.

I kind of have to agree with you.

If you live and abroad, do not expect the British Government to come to your aid, even though you may still be innocent!

But be a drug mule who gets caught in a country with prisons that would make a rat cringe and they will fall over backwards to help you!

any one who takes a chance smuggling drugs from abroard needs there heads examined ,

its not like this soft country when you get sent to jail for 5yrs

First your going to need to go to college this line of work and police don't send people over the CIA and IRS FBI do

So you don't think there are countries that plant evidence on American tourists thinking "Ahh hey these fat americans always have lots of money lets lock them up, and we will get paid".

Well if those people are Americans perhaps we should stand behind other American's.
