Conservatives, would you rather give up your guns or allow gay marriage?

It seems to me that to be logically consistent you would either have to accept gay marriage or give up your guns because both have to do with government interfering with a person's freedom.

So are you cons REALLY for small government and freedom or not ?

In case you didn't catch that, I'm justifiably calling you hypocrites again.

Update:

Patrick and the 26 accounts that gave him stars, there is no flaw in my logic. Government interfering in gay marriage means bigger government, not interferring means smaller government. Just because gun ownership is protected by a Constitutional Amendment, and thus protected from big government, it doesn't follow that big government isn't being used to stop other freedoms that are NOT protected under the Constirution.

"owever, on the flip side, I am infuriated at the "gay community" for restricting the freedom of speech of Christians that want to stand up in a pulpit and state that they believe homosexuality is a sin, also. Freedom of demonstration and speech is what this country was founded on. I think both sides are being hypocritical in this issue restricting each others freedoms." Tbf, if the mormons started stating that they had no issue with black people, they just thought that their skin colour was evil, people would go crazy. Or if an Islamic Mullah starts talking about how western people are inherently evil, even though he has western friends, people would still be horrified and demand his arrest. Technically there is no real 'freedom of speech.' Anything that could be seen as inciting hatred is criticised and stopped.

I don't own a working firearm, and I don't care about what other adults do for sex. I don't think the government can sanctify "marriage" or anything else; it's job is to record contracts between individuals, enforce the Bill of Rights, and defend the borders.

I'm NRA, I am a registered Libertarian, and I am a Goldwater conservative. There is nothing hypocritical about any of my principles or political views. And there a lot of us out here.

I'm a Democrat, but I'll add my opinion here. I say let gays marry and everyone keep their guns if they want them.

It's amazing to me why anyone cares enough to vote against gays being able to marry. How does two other people marrying (no matter what sex) affect anyone else's life? And if maintaining the sanctity of marriage is their reason then why not protest people divorcing and re-marrying another person as well?

    I'm a socialist. Can I answer too?

I attended a gay marriage of a couple of my buddies.

One of the grooms gave the best man a pistol as a gift.

    I think that's about right.

Why should there be a choice BETWEEN the right of armed self defense and equality for sexual minorities?

    I want both.

Did you ever hear of the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution? People are allowed "to keep & bear arms". When liberals don't like a word, they change the definition. The correct definition of marriage is the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex.

I'm not conservative at all, but I would allow gay marriage in a heartbeat. Gay marriages didn't claim the lives of several innocent people in Littleton, Colorado or Binghampton, New York. Gay marriages weren't the cause of the Virginia Tech shooting.

I feel as though marriage is a holy ceremony. Even the govt. pronounces the couple joined in "holy matrimony..." even if the govt. is seperate from church. A man and a man or a woman and a women would be considered unholy. I'm not stating an opinion or a belief, just simply acknowlidging what is in the bible.

The right to bear arms is a constitutional right. A written contract/agreement between the people who live here and the people who represent them. I dunno... seems a lot different to me.

Neither. One of the things I do agree with Obama is that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

    Guns, you'll never get them.

Gun ownership is guaranteed in the Bill of Rights. Although I don't own one, I support the right to keep and bear arms.

Personally, I don't care if you want to marry another dude.

that patrick person is smart! I think! If he means that guns should be allowed and gays not then he is VERY smart! Our population could slowly die how sad!*tear*. but I think CERTAIN people should be able to have guns. but not all .like those gangsta's no-no! And certain guns should be allowed and others maybe shouldnt. I mean if no more guns what happens to the people who make those? their poor families... So see!

Guns is more "logical" than gays! Am I right or am I right? Wait what if I'm wrong!? Oh-no!
