Dear Mugdha26,
It is very simple. Open your Tally and go to Purchase. Select either cash or credit purchase. Verify whether the Company name is existing in your system, if not create it. Check the dates in both hard copy of Invoice and in your system.
Submit the name as mentioned in the purchase Invoice and enter, the Invoice number, date raised. Enter the description of the goods as mentioned in Invoice and quantity. Then enter the basic price/s and show the VAT collected as per Invoice ( either 4% or 12.5% ). Then enter the details. The material details will go to Inventory account and VAT to its respective head automatically.
The process is similar , but reverse while raising a Sales Invoice. For more information go to Tally help in your System.
Good luck.
