Fun question for AC/DC fans...?

Since AC/DC is one of the few rock bands I can think of with longevity that has never released a rock ballad. How do you think Brian Johnson would sound on a love song? Is that something you'd pay for?

BQ: Other bands that haven't sold out for the almighty dollar

Great Question! You know, I never ever EVER considered this possibility. I haven't bought anything by AC/DC in ages, so I probably wouldn't buy it, BUT I would be interested in hearing it on the radio, etc.

Yeah, I think he might be able to pull it off,but it would be quite a contrast...something slow with that raspy raspy voice. I still believe he is the King of garbled lyrics.

  • Yes, Ride On is a ballad of sorts. Of course, that's with Bon Scott singing, who had clean vocals, not Brian Johnson and all his scratchy-ness. If Brian did a ballad, I think it would probably sound something like this:

    Cinderella - "Through the Rain"

Of course, it would have less piano, or most likely none at all. I don't know though. AC/DC is just raw energy. That doesn't go well with a love song. I probably wouldn't buy it, but I'd definitely listen to it at least once.

BQ: Iced Earth. Their sound may have changed a little from singer to singer, but overall they've remained the same in style. Plus, Social Distortion has stayed fairly true to their style. Their newest album, "Sex, Love, and Rock 'n' Roll sounds just as if it could have been released along with their 1990s albums.

Here's a link to Brian Johnson singing a folk ballad with the group Geordie (pre AC/DC):

It's definitely not a love ballad, Lol.

Geordie was a great band in the 70's in case you've never heard them before.

A band like AC/DC couldn't pull a love ballad with out ruining their image. They work for some bands, and they don't for others. AC/DC is almost completely different from any other band on the scene. They're all for fun, kicking back, and letting it out. I doubt the guys would **** around and do it.

They did Let Me Put My Love Into You (Back In Black) and Ride On (Dirty Deeds)! I'd call both of those ballads, but not sell-out songs.

Brian Johnson would be stoned on stage if he sang a love ballad- thanks alot for the horrible image!

I think just about everyone else sold out though- I realized it was inevitable when Metallica did it.

Maybe Iron Maiden and Judas Priest?

I think AC/DC write music about the same topic, but the music itself doen't sound the same. For Ex. Highway to Hell and Touch too much sound the same? I don't think so!!!!

  • I'm glad they never do ballads! I've always thought at least they have never done a ballad. Bon would spin in his grave. That's always been one of my favorite things about them.

I'd totally pay for it just to hear what it sounds like. ummm... so far i don't think that three days grace has... or papa roach, although lifeline kinda scares me(in that "oh no, are they gonna become sell outs" kind way) cause it's totally different from all of their other stuff. Don't get me wrong though it's a good song. I just hope they don't become the next fall out boy...
