How can I develop a better net game?

I'm a junior in high school and play tennis on my school team as 2nd varsity singles. I play well at the base line and that is my favorite place to be, but my net game is a bit....inadequate.

It has gotten much better since the beginning of this season but it is still not where I want it to be.

So what can I do to help better my net game?

Improving your volleys is very important, especially if you are looking to play some college tennis. Finishing the point at net, as you may know, is very effective. Once mastered, your opponents will not always know how to compete against you.

Practice serving and volleying. Especially if you are playing a weaker opponent that you know you will beat, come to net every point. This will help you to develop your net game. If you force yourself to continue to come to net off your serves then you will improve dramatically. Also you can obviously practice approaching the net off deep approach shots.

As far as technique, there are a few pointers that I would like to share with you. First, I cock my wrist back and at first this may seem to hurt. This enables your racket and arm to be at a right angle, which is what you want. Remember when volleying that your legs are the most important. Sometimes you may think you are at the ball, but you aren't quite set up. So when serving and volleying, do not serve and then wait to see if it goes in or how good it is but rather serve and run directly to the net and split step preparing for your volley.

Have a plan on what you are going to do, as all good players do. Tell yourself for example, "I am going to serve out wide to his backhand and come into net and volley into the open court deep, if he gets it back it will most likely be a floater and I will put the ball away". Plans such as these are what great players are thinking before each point. They know exactly what they are going to do, whether it plays out like they plan is a different story.

Practice sticking volleys back and forth with someone. If you really want to improve your net game then you just have to put yourself out there at the net and volley! If you miss, just keep practicing it and ask your coach for advice.

    Good luck with your game!

Oh look, it's this question again... If it's not something dead simple that could be whipped up in RPGMaker or something similar, you don't. You aren't just going to "learn the software" just like that. You would need to learn how to code, and that takes a major time investment and lots of it. If you don't want to do that, then no one is going to pay you for an idea if you can't at least implement it into something demonstrable, which means you still need to learn how to code. You can't just throw some Legos together and get money, kid. You have a LOT to learn if you ever want to develop games or any other remotely complex software.

Play Miny Tennis at the fastest speed your partner can go to hone your reflexes, and to the person who said singles is mostly baseline play, shame, shame, just because the singles serve-and-volleyer is a dieing style doesn't mean there are not any left on this world, people like you annoy me

P.S. I know this didn't help much but Chema infuriated me

well singles is mainly a baseline game-but there's nothing better than practicing your forehand and back hand volleys (corner shots) -just go out with a hopper of balls and practice. incorporate more of it in ur game and u'll improve.
