Yes it can very well harm your car. Your car is not compatible with flex fuel. Your fuel injection system is not "mapped" for E85 (E85 requires a much larger fuel-pulse per injection cycle - outside the fuel map on your Old's computer). In addition, keeping the fuel in the car can corrode and damage the parts of your fuel system that are incompatible with high-ethanol content.

You may get a "check engine" light, or you may run dangerously lean on E85

The best thing to do is to drain out at least 1/2 of your tank (preferably 2/3), and fill it with regular unleaded (its okay to go with a lower octane - E85 has a high octane rating). Save the E85, and dispense a couple of gallons into each tank of gas you get - it won't damage your engine in low doses.

Number one, 112,000 miles is not a high mileage car, second, straight ethanol unless the engine is designed for it, can burn valves, so to be on the safe side, put in some octane booster, and fill as soon as it will be possible with a high octane fuel, such as 90 or 91, even five gallons will dilute the mixture enough to be safe.

Everytime you burn a 1/4 tank, add regular gas. This will dilute the fuel quickly. It is bad for the engine. Doesn't the pump have a big yellow handle and a big yellow sticker on it? Maybe he just thought the pump was pretty.

No, just dont' do it again. Get 91 next time. It won't HARM it, it just isn't good for it if you kept doing it. Did the same thing with my Mercedes 560SL, nothing happens.
