The first punk band I got into was X
I was more into Hard Rock until Darby Crash died in 1980 (I was 16) and my buddy Alfred was all broke up over it. That got me interested in punk and I went to thuis punk record store in Hollywood called Middle Earth and I bought cool lookin stuff based only upon cover art!
I didnt stick just to punk. My favorites run the gamut from John Lee Hooker to Hendrix to The Band to Dead Kennedys, Germs etc. I like evrerything.

I'll just blend it all into one.
=P
My older sister was into punk so I was basically raised listening to it. I remember being 7 years old and her having her punk friends over with their leather and studs, creepers and boots, colorful mohawks or liberty spikes...
I didn't actually start listening to it on my own until I was about 11. The first bands being The Misfits and The Exploited.
I eventually got away from the "conventional punk" and started to get some variety in the subgenres of punk, and found out I liked that much better...
To be honest there are some things I really despise about the punk culture, but I'm in it for the music.

1978 when I brought the Clash's first album. It knocked me flying - I was 16 and loathed bands like Yes, Queen etc .etc
Then went to see loads of punk bands all over London. Had an awesome time for a couple of years.
My own kids, now in their teens, love the Clash etc. and over the past four years I've seen loads of brilliant 'Indie' bands with them. Not quite as edgy as punk, but still great. Try Kings of Leon, The Enemy, The Macabees - too many others to mention but a great time to be young.

Well, about one year ago I saw a picture of Sid Vicious for the first time and thought he was really cool, so I started listening to the Sex Pistols, Clash ect. And I just fell in love with punk, I will forever stick with it. And also my parents like punk a lot so they show me lots of bands.

BQ: Probably NOFX
BQ2: Few years ago before I was born (I'm 14) my brother went to the Warped Tour when blink 182 first came out, and after blink played NOFX came on and they blew him away. So like when I was about 10 or 11 I heard this full-on 100% energy driven music and I wondered what it was and I found out that it was the 18 minute song, "the Decline" by NOFX. That's when I started this punk fascination. I started going back the roots of NOFX other then going farther. So I listened to Minor Threat, Fear, the Germs, Sex Pistols, Ramones, Misfits, Adolescents, etc. Then I went to other bands that were influenced by them like Bad Religion, Good Riddance, Strung-Out, NOFX, MxPx, Offspring, Pennywise, Pulley, Lagwagon, etc.
BQ3: To be honest, before I was listening to punk, I was listening to the radio and something about the energy that punk music gives out is amazing to me and just sticks to me. Everytime I listen to punk I feel like kicking someone in the face (for fun of course). It's not too positive, it's not too negative, its right in the middle and that's what makes me happy.

I used to hear Pennywise alot when I would go hang out with my cousin. It just escalated from there.
BQ: first punk band u discovered? Does old Green Day count? Haha, probably Pennywise.
BQ2: how did u discover it? Hangin out with my cuz.
BQ3: why did u stick to punk? I started listening to metal alot, but when I broke up with my boyfriend (who HATED punk), I got back into it and remembered why I loved it so much.

BQ: the ramones
BQ2: When i was 13, my brother-in-law let me borrow his cd collection, the first cd i listened to from it were the ramones, i remember thinking it was the best thing i have ever heard, and it still is.
BQ3: it was something i could love at a time when i felt like a freak and weirdo and i admired several punk musicians that gave me courage and something to fight for.

Prosthetic Head- Green Day
When i was five and heard it on the radio in the car.
That song just stuck with me till I was thirteen when i got the album. I had no idea who it was by or what it was called. Every Green Day album I could tell you where and when I got that album because it bad such a difference in my life (same for other punk rock albums but not as clear). I stuck with it because of everything it stands for. It really helped me threw life and it still is. I was never exposed to that "f*^$ it" attitude before when I discovered all these people with this attitude, I finally realized that I needed to stop worrying so much.

AFI, Rancid
by chance
it saved my life. I know a lot of people say that, but I had a plan and everything to kill myself, my life was hell, and then I found punk rock. It's the first thing that has ever truly made me happy.
Punx Unite!!
