I got scammed on Craigslist?
Wasnt actually ME, it was my mom. She was selling a ring for $900, some guy who supposedly lived in Georgia, bought it, he suggested using paypal. So my mom made a paypal account, and she did everything to send it [dont know exactly] and the asshole sent an entire fake paypal page saying everything was done, so she sent it, and he never paid her. She emailed him and she actually got a response. He was saying he was sorry and he would send it back or some ****, but we knew that was just another scam, she reported to Craigslist but theres nothing they can actually do. Turned out the guy actually lives in Malaysia? Even though this didnt really effect me, im extremely pissed. $900 is alot of money for us, so now my mom and dad both feel suckered. And im stuck here pissed, with nothing i can do.
Is there anything i could do?

I would still report it to the police. Even though they may not be able to do much. I experienced something similar on ebay, I purchased a treo phone when they first came out for $500. When I received it and tried to get it added to my cell phone service, the lady told me it was stolen and I couldn't add it. I was so angry, I reported it to the police and they did a report but the guy lived in North Carolina and I lived in Colorado. It took me along time to get passed this and to this day I do not trust ebay or craigslist. I'm sorry this happened to your mom. I would still report it to the police.

If she actually mailed it to an address in Georgia, she might want to stop by her local police precinct and file a report. She should print out copies of all correspondence, including the fake paypal page. I'm not sure they'll be able to do anything for her, but they may be able to put her in contact with somebody in law enforcement in GA.
It's unlikely that she'll recoup the ring or the cash, but she may be able to stop somebody else from being conned.

It's not the first time she has ever been ripped off, it's not the last. Chalk it up as a 900$ lesson.
Maybe you or her can take some solace by telling the story you might stop someone else from getting ripped off.

Not really. It is unfortunate that a small percentage of people use the web for fraudulent purposes. Provide moral support for your parents. If you are able to help them out with a larger than usual gift for the next holiday, that would also be nice.

You can cal the police but normally they will tell you they cannot do anything as person-to-person transactions are on an as-is basis and you should have checked out the phone before you handed over any money
