Can I put an E39 M5 engine in my E39 530i?
Its a 2003 530i sedan with sports package. If so, where would I buy one and for how much?

Technically yes, though it would be a worthless investment in my opinion as it would cost nearly the same amount to swap everything over (engine / tranny / harness / ecu / diff / suspension, etc) as it would cost to BUY a low mileage M5. Not to mention you could knock a HUGE chunk off the price if you traded in or sold the 530 to help fund it.
If your looking for a bit more power with out stepping up to the M5, then there is always the forced induction route, just a thought. ESS tuning makes a kit that will bring you up to 325 horsepower and 300lbs/ft of torque.

Of course you can! That's what the Motorsport division does. You may actually be able to get the entire engine with ECU direct from BMW. I'm not actually sure though and I wouldn't know how much it would cost. I don't own an E39.
