What famous painting of hell is this?
There's a famous Renaissance painting of hell (possibly depicting the Divine Comedy) of people on a boat with a ton of people in the water trying to climb onto the boat.
I'm watching What Dreams May Come and there's a scene that I'm pretty sure is a reference to it, but I can't remember the painting
Thats not the one I'm thinking of, but its very similar. Is there another painting like it but with more people in the water?

If you are referring to "The Barque of Dante" it is not from Renaissance, but it is Romantic, otherwise at moment, nothing else comes to my mind...

Neo-classical art is more interesting, but inspired by ancient Greek and Roman traditions. Try looking up Jacques-Louis David or Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres and see if any of their paintings interest you. If not, it's back to the drawing board. :P
