What was the cause of the 1883 krakatoa eruption?

    gases built up in the magma chamber until there was there was too much pressure, the gas had to escape somehow, so it went through the volcano.

    Since the magma in the Krakatoa volcano has a very high silica content, which flows very slowly, and takes a lot of force to move, so it when it finally did erupt, it had a very explosive eruption
