What is this, Photo attached?

What is this, we found it in my Dads garage. It has two openings on the top and on the bottom. Both doors on ether end open inward. Thanks for your answers.

that is a bait/fish basket you use it to store live bait and keep it in the water so it will live longer or you can put your catch in it to keep it alive till your ready to fillet them

It's a fish basket. When your dad catches fish he hangs the basket over the side of the boat and the fish stay alive. Works like a live well like the bigger fishing boats have..

Crab trap is the main use.  Fishermen also use it to trap other food, hold the daily catch or hold bait.
