Getting a Lenovo Thinkpad t400 and I need help deciding on the specs!?
I am getting a new laptop for school and I am planning to buy a Lenovo Thinkpad t400 but I am not too computer savvy and need some help.
1. Deciding between processors: I have the choice of getting Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9400 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2) or Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P9500 (2.53GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2) 25W or Intel Core 2 Duo processor T9600 (2.8GHz 1066MHz 6MBL2). Is the T9400 good or should I spring for the more expensive ones?
2. Should I get an Intel Turbo Memory 2GB? What is it?
3. What would having an integrated bluetooth allow me to do?
4. Which wireless card is best? What difference does it make?
Intel WiFi Link 5100 (AGN) with My WiFi Technology or Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN) with My WiFi Technology or Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350 (AGN) with My WiFi Technology
5. For mobile broadband, I have the choice of Integrated Mobile Broadband upgradable or Integrated AT&T Mobile Broadband Card (3G). What does mobile broadband mean? Do you have to go through your phone service in order to use it? If so, I will not be using it so should I just get the upgradable option?
6. Difference between integrated and discrete graphics?
I would really appreciate any help you can give!
No, I won't be gaming. I will be in law school so I just need a reliable, quick laptop that I can use for 10 hours at a time without crashing.

It depends if you will be gaming.
The T9400 is a good CPU upgrading won't be worth it unless you will be playing games(although you will benefit from the increased processing power if using Vista).
Intel Turbo Memory use's solid state memory to speed up boot times(good choice if you're late for class and need to start typing notes ASAP)

The 5350 is a good choice since it has "My WiFi technology" which allows compatible products to connect wirelessly to the laptop, i.e wireless printer.
Mobile broadband, simply put it will give you WiFi wherever you are, but you have to go through the phone company for it and it's expensive: upwards of $70 dollars a month But since most, if not all campus's have WiFi Mobile broadband won't be necessary.
If you will be using Vista I suggest that you go with discrete graphics since a dedicated graphics card will have more power to handle Aero and all the visual effects.
Hope this help's
