Certainly the greatest *team* try I've ever seen.

Worth a little bit of thought: There were exactly 0 professional rugby players on the pitch in that match.

My point is not that a modern professional test side would not defeat those amateurs (if such a match were possible). Rather it is that wonderful rugby union can - and still is - played by amateur players all over the world. Tip o' the cap to all the grass-roots rugby players.

No. There's plenty of great tries around and I wouldn't even say that is really a team try, it didn't go through that many hands once the final counter attack started. It was a great try, but that is all. Got to love the Babarians style of play though don't you and got to love the non existence of penalties for head high tackles, even taking advantage into account, lol. Man they were hard in those days.

An example of another great try that I like more than that one was Jonah Lomus try in the 1995 RWC when he ran over the top of Mike Catt. Another was Mortlocks intercept try that ended the AB's run in the 2003 RWC when he ran 85 odd metres. It wasn't anything magic, but was 'great' as it shattered a nation and was the second most important action in that RWC after Johnny's drop goal.

Edit: Here are the links, Jonah first and Mortlock second:

That was a classic try, have a look at this one, though. The try from the edge of the world.
