Nocturnal birds of Virginia?

I need to identify a bird that keeps singing in my backyard. It's not an owl, I'm pretty sure, but it sings at night frequently. It has a song bird like call and I live in northern virginia, fredericksburg precisely. Please help

    My mom grew up in Virginia. She knew someone named Ima Virginia Byrd, and I am not even kidding! Thats the first thing I thought of when I saw this question.
