Okay. It depends on if you set it up right or not. If you are on the pay to go plan for example like 200 minutes minutes and added the $20 unlimited text pack then no, it shouldn't charge you during your month of unlimited service. At the end of your 30 days, top up again to continue. You keep your minutes for the next period, your texting starts over again .

You should not be charged 15 cent a text unless 1) You tried to order the add on text unlimited packages instead of texter's delight and you didn't pick a voice minute plan to which to add it. Texter's delight both 1000 message and unlimited are the only text plans at VM which can be picked without a voice plan and not have VM go back to charging you 15 c/ a text. 2) The whole setup was entered wrong and now Virgin Mobile is deducting the expensive non plan rate.

Virgin mobile has great deals, but they have flaws.

    1) Always pay with topup card for any business you do on their site, even buying phones . They are known to overcharge credit/debit cards and Paypal accounts they have on file, sometimes repeatedly. A topup card controls any such possible problems. 2) Never assume everything is fine on what plans you choose when you top up again between the previous month and the current. CHECK to make sure the plan wasn't "jiggled" out of where it was before. Go into your account, make sure everything is in its' place and repick every thing over again if you have to. I've heard more then a few times, the user doesn't check and suddenly 1) they're getting charged a lot more then they though they were. 2) Their account just shuts down because it gets drained by the higher default non plan rates.

So basically control your cash flow and keep an eye on your plan picks. Getting a refund from VM is very tough though possible. They just finished laying off ALL their US support. From now on all their service people are foreigners and that means more potential for miscommunication when you call in . The best thing is to just avoid it by being alert and preventing problems to begin with.

Picking Texter's Delight can be a good deal . Their 1000 message plan is 14.99 and their unlimited one is 19.99 a month. They both cover text/pic/video and instant messaging along with email.

Any addtional talk time is added as needed by the user automatically when they talk at 10 cents a minute.

If you do topup, always have a few dollars extra. Like if you get the 19.99 Texter's Delight with a $20 card and that's all you have, it won't work in some places because that state's taxes will push it way above $20. Some states have taxes as hight as 20 percent . So be careful

Virgin Mobile has a lot of good points, I am just trying to help you avoid or minimize the not so good ones. Good luck and take care.
