I have put open office on two computers. I use Professional AVG everything. It does download viruses, pups. malware. They may not be doing it, but someone is attaching these things to the download. I bought Microsoft word for students and it takes care of most of my needs. I had to work hard to get my computers back to clean.

No, just to Download that prg from the sight shouldn't give your pc viruses. Wouldn't recommend leaving the system without an anti virus too long on windows, unless you're running an apple or are on Linux.
AVG Free Version 8.5 is a good Anti Virus Guard. Windows Defender for Spyware, and that firewall should be on.

The first thing you should do before downloading anything else or even just browsing the internet, is to get yourself a decent anti virus program; also antispyware. This really is the very first thing you should have done on getting a computer, though presumably you had a trial version of one which you let expire.
Then do a full scan to clear your computer of whatever bad things have got through and then go to OpenOffice and download - and yes it is a reputable site.

No Open Office is a fantastic piece of software. It has a great community who help develop the package and offer free support. I guarantee it to be 100% virus free and easy to use (once you stop expecting everything to be in the same place as MS.Word)
Enjoy :D

No, it's fine so long as you get it from the official site. You should get some antivirus protection, though - very risky these days doing anything on the web without it!

If you get it from the original web site : openoffice.org. No. Dont worry.
But maybe you have downloaded scam form the internet like an openoffice version from another website.
