    To find a slope, the formula used is: slope = (y1 - y2) / (x1 - x2)

    in your problem,

    slope = -5/2

    y1= -4

    y2= 6

    x1= 7

    x2 = ?

    -5/2 = (-4-6) / (7-?)

    -5/2 = (-10) / (7-?)

    (-10) / (-5/2) = 7 - ?

    4 = 7 - ?

    ? = 7 - 4

    ? = 3

    The person above me did this in a different, but still effective way. The easier way, my opinion, is by using the formula:

    y2-y1

    -------

    x2-x1

    and labeling your ordered pairs to distinguish between putting in correct order.

    (7,.4) (?,6)

    x1y1 x2y2

    6-4 2

    -----= ----- = 1/-3

    ?-7 .6
