    Yes, the pair is bonded. They function as a team--the female lays the eggs and incubates during the day, the male at night. The female broods the hatchlings during the day, the male at night. Both parents feed their young. Some studies show that the birds remain together for a number of years, it is unknown if a widowed bird will re-pair but appears to be unlikely.
