False positives on a pregnancy test are really really rare. False negatives happen all the time. If you have positive pregnancy tests, that means that your body IS producing the hormones associated with pregnancy. It's pretty likely that you are pregnant, even if it's a drugstore test.
The doctor who ordered x-rays and the x-ray techs should have asked you if there was any chance that you might be pregnant. Even though you had negative tests, if you had unprotected sex with no birth control...then you should always answer yes. Even if it's pretty unlikely. Obviously there was a chance that you could be pregnant because you ARE pregnant.
If they didn't ask...they should have. They are supposed to. It gets forgotten every once in awhile, but it's supposed to happen every time. If they didn't ask, they wouldn't have thought to shield you either.
Now that you are pregnant, you should let your doctor know. They can talk to you about your particular situation and your particular x-rays and let you know what the risks are for the baby. Also, you didn't mention why you had chest x-rays...but if you're taking any medication (like for pneumonia or a chest infection) that's another reason that you need to talk to your doctor. Some medications can harm a developing fetus. Little things can have a really big impact early in a pregnancy.
I hope that everything turns out ok. Congratulations on expecting. Good luck, and take care! :)

Drugstore pregnancy tests are questionable. You should see a physician to have them perform a pregnancy test for you.
In hindsight, did they ask you if it were possible that you were pregnant? Even if your tests read negative, if you are having unprotected sex or not using some from of birth control, it is possible, even if very unlikely, that you could be pregnant. I would tell them exactly that. "I am not sure if I am pregnant, this is the contraception I have used, but I don't know." They should air on the side of caution and protect you and a possible embryo/fetus/baby.
