Could I have a catalytic converter going bad?

I am afraid that my cat is on its last legs. The problem that I am having is that if I accelerate over 65 mph the temperature gage rises, if I push it to hard the car will overheat, When I stop to add water I find all of the water has been blown ot through the overflow. If when it starts to overheat and I slow down the temperature drops to normal. I have recently noticed a slight drop in o oil pressure at idle when it heats up but after it cools off the pressure is constant, a good 60 lbs indicated. Oh by the way I should mention that this is a Pontiac Firebird born in 2002 with a 3.8 motor. Recently had the oil changed and that made the oil pressure issue more livable.

Update:

I am sorry I failed to mention that the water pump was changed about 7 months ago and I have no indications of a blown head gasket, no white smoke or water in the oil. But it could be the start.

Update 2:

L,N Thank you I was leaning that way but I rejected that since I had the radiator flushed when I had the water pump done. Even though I had never had it flushed before. I was also leaning towards a rusty thermostat that was restricting water flow.

Sounds like the radiator is plugged up with mineral scale. You could try a chemical flush, but it may already be too far gone. That's why you are supposed to flush your radiator every few years. 2002 has plastic radiator tanks and will probably be cheaper to replace than repair. Drop in oil pressure is to be expected when the engine is running hotter than normal since the oil thins out when hot.
