Is there a way to warm up the soil so my tomato plants will do a little better?

I'd like to set them out now but the soil temperature is less than 55 at night.

Update:

I wonder if plact plastic trash bags would do the trick?

Update 2:

I meant black plastic trash bags.

Update 3:

The nights are cool here in the rocky mounatin region. Soil temps above 90 are rare.

You can get black plastic strips at garden store...the black absorbs heat, plastic retains moisture and eliminates weeds

Don't get in to big of a hurry, once the soil reaches 90 degrees they won't set blooms any longer.I keep mine in pots and just repot until the soil is warm.

If you have them in containers, put them out during the day and bring them back in, in the evening. Try growing them upside down it works great. There are video's on you tube.
