As the reason for the huge salaries and bonuses is to get the 'Best People'?

...MP's just want to screw their expenses so they can get parity with their City Slicker chums. On radio today, one of the City types defended their bonuses by implying they couldn't be expected to know what their doing while they gambled the Savers Money for 6 figure bonuses.

Which are we really paying them for Incompetence or Corruption? Or is there some other explanation for giving them more money than a dozen doctors?

The city bonuses were paid on projected growth of funds using past performance as a guide and with every transfer of money or shares from one fund to another the whole system was open to abuse .Everyone is told when purchasing shares in a growth fund that past performance can not guarantee future returns so why city gamblers were paid bonuses before the fund was realized is beyond me.As for paying huge salaries to obtain the best people well the best people have really screwed the financial markets throughout the entire world and are now picking up bonuses for taking bail out money from taxpayers. The majority of modern MP's have zero business savvy and are shoehorned into so called safe seats where they are virtually guaranteed to be elected. It needs everyone to go out and vote for the single issue independent candidates. This won't wreck the country as nothing changes in the civil service but only then will we get genuine debate in politics and a truly democratic parliament.

Most but not all MP's are both incompetent and corrupt
