Why doesn't california drill for the oil and gas off their shores to help get themselves out of debt?

    The new bill passed, has it so no one would ever drill off shore, they can drill, but the states cannot make any profits, it must all go back to the Feds to fund alternative fuels and all rigs have to be 50 miles or further off shore, so even though the libs passed an bill, they really didn't, Oh! but they can say they did if confronted*************************************************

    No, here's a better question:

    If solar and wind power is the way of the future, why isn't California loaded up with solar panels all over the state and wind turbines all along the coast? Why aren't they able to sustain their own power needs purely on this great new power technology? Heck, they should be making a fortune off of it.

    it costs alot of many to get offshore rigs built....should have been done when we had money, if ever.
