Can I claim bankruptcy and still keep my house?

I have quite a bit of credit card debt and a boat that is way upside down and have taken a 40% reduction in pay. I am finding it very difficult to stay afloat.

You need legal advice. Seek out a bankruptcy lawyer. Generally speaking you can keep the house. There are still a lot of issues to contend with though....GET HELP.

This is a life changing event such as divorce and a death in the family. It is extremely gut wrenching to go thru.

The amount of debt you have vs your income will help you determine if this is a good strategy. There are several calculators on line that may help you.

Before you do anything talk to your credit card company about reducing interest rate. Talk to credit counselor if they are no help.
