You might be getting infections with all the backup files that you have or somebody might be using some infected media in your computer.
All you need to do is to re-format and install fresh Operating System. This will certainly remove all the virus from the computer even the memory resident one. I would recommend you to use original OS installer disk to install OS on your computer, as copied one could already infected and there is no need for clean installation of OS as it will get infected as soon as you finish installing OS.
After installation download good anti-virus program with anti-spyware features or use a fresh copy (if you have bought) of it and install it. Update anti-virus to the current date. Do not try to access any other files or partitions on the hard disk. Don't even use any old CD or DVD as they might be infected too.
After installing anti-virus program, run a complete scan on all partitions that you have on the hard drive. If you have any external drive, you could connect it to the computer but do not access it unless you have ran anti-virus program over it. This would remove almost all the viruses on the computer.
Try to run anti-virus program on all the removal media that you use frequently before using it. That implies to the movie and songs disk too.
If you would follow the steps, I am sure your computer won't get infected with virus.
Cheers!

Virus can even get into executable files.
SO if there is a virus in any backup file( that includes u'r AVG)
then it will get activated..
Not onnly that.
If u dont format all drives, When u double click any drive , there will be autoplay instruction to activate virus.
So better reinstall windows(that means fresh copy not repair).
Dont double click any of the drive ( Ok u can double click C drive).
Format all the drives except C.
Then install a new anitviurs. (dont goto unwanted site.
Just go to Google search for antivirus..
I will prefer avira free .. really good.
And install it.
Den do whatever u like.. WAllah

Dont just rely on anti-virus, use anti-spyware such as lavasoft adaware/spyware remover, plus a good firewall zonealarm is free, in fact all I mention are, use a good browser such as opera or firefox and use pop blockers, check internet security settings are set correctly. As mentioned scan any progs with avg before reinstalling. You might also want to use ccleaner to clean up any unwanted temp files/folders. Make sure you do a complete format before reinstalling windows too.
If the problem persists, google search the problem to find removal instructions.
Hope this helps

Your Master Boot Record is probably corrupted. Do a format with the command of /restore MBR (or whatever the command is, it's been a long time since I used DOS, but putting a question mark after "format" will give you a list of options.

format, then format back, that could desire to do it, then set up. additionally, do away with the reminiscence and bypass away it out of for a couple of minutes then positioned it decrease back in, the virus must be lurking in there too. in case you may do away with the battery from the mummy board, try this too and bypass away it out for ten minutes. sooner or later, use virus application, save on as much as now, in case you purchased something run the appliance earlier and when you install it. in case you place a jumpchronic or your acquaintances prominent software into your laptop, back run virus application earlier and after. bear in mind, you have hundred of hours tied up on your laptop, safeguard it like it particularly is money. .

if you are restoring your old files then virus in these file will again corrupt the file. you also need to delete the infected files from its original location and clear all files in quarantine or back up items of avg.
before restoring old files, scan them for the viruses. also update your virus definition.

first of all turn off that bloody system restore.
then boot ur pc in safe mode and run the antivirus scanner. delete all those files it captures.
