Hey there,
This could be caused by many different medical problems varying from stress from traveling to gallbladder issues or appendicitis. I've had severe pain from the stomach bug but I've also had pain before my appendectomy and severe pain with my gallbladder disease.
I could be from something you ate, inflammation of an abdominal organ, or stress.
If you are having a pressure like pain in your back and under your right rib and nausea, it could be gallbladder issues and if your pain was in your lower right side and you had nausea or a fever it could be the start of appendicitis, however that pain generally doesn't go away and come back. Your kidneys can cause pain in the front and back if you have a kidney stone...
Or you could have picked up something while traveling (undercooked meat or worms or something) so just keep an eye on the issue. If the pain comes back, please call your doctor so they can rule out all the serious possible causes and give you the treatment you need.
Make sure to be drinking lots of fluids (not freezing cold because that can make you feel nauseated) and massage your abdominal area while showering to relax the muscles in that area.
If you are running a fever of any kind, your pain becomes severe, or you start vomiting, I would call your doctor asap or go to the local ER.
I wish I had a better answer but I hope you feel better soon!

You could have a bacterial infection due to the food in Central America and not being used to it, if you have diarrhea that could easily be the case and it will most likely pass, if you have prolonged diarrhea then I suggest seeing a doctor for it. If you're running a fever and the pains are in the lower abdomen then it's wise to go to the doctor because it could be your appendix. You could of also pulled a muscle and not noticed, especially if it's running down your lower back. It's very common to pull muscles around your lower stomach/groin area if you aren't careful enough. Drink water and relax, if the pains persist/get worse then it never hurts to seek medical attention.

To me, sounds like irritable bowel syndrome. The good news is that about the only major things on the left side are the descending colon, left ureter, and the left ovary. Does it burn when you pee? Are your periods different? Do you have diarrhea or constipation? You should follow up with your PCP. He can do a KUB or ultrasound to check for a kidney stone, a US will also look for a cyst or tumor, a UA to check for UTI, and possibly a stool sample. Or they can just do a CT. Good luck and God bless.

An organ on your lower right side is your appendix. It could be bloated, or even on the brink of exploding.
I would seriously consider seeing a doctor. And no, it's not SWINE FLU.

it sounds like heart burn/indigestion to me, what did you eat before you went to bed, and how long was it after that you went to bed . it may have just laid inside you. did you eat anything different while over there. any fatty fried food by any chance , if yes there is your problem, it does not agree with you. any spicy food. that can trigger it off. go to see gp about it.
