What is a good alternative punishment for someone who does not clean up the dog poop when walking the dog?
Hi, I am a writer who is doing research for a book:
The Anti Dog Sh*t Crusade.
So far I have received two ideas: instead of giving a fine rub the nose of the offending person in it (creative, but too harsh) and having the person clean up dog poop for a day (better).
What other ideas can you come up with?
I hope to collect as many ideas as possible! I will use the best ideas in my book, and this will hopefully help us all to live in a world with far less dog poop. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot,
Thijs :-)

I used to work in a kennel, so I'm okay with poop so long as I have rubber gloves.
If my neighbor's dog gets poop on my yard, it usually ends up in the mailbox, the porch, or the hood of the car. This only works for me because the neighbor on the other side agreed to do the same thing, and it's not like they can dust for prints on a dog turd.
The only thing Center Guy could do about it would be to install a home security system with cameras, and that's so expensive I'd go back to just tossing them into his yard and considering the job done.
Cleaning up dog poop for a day won't work, you'll have to enforce it. It can't be enforced. Maybe there is no poop that day, what then?
I'd say just start smacking them with huge fines. Like those 500,000 fines for littering, call it litter.

Take the person to a Lab and have a physician show him all the bacteria you can find on poop, and how bad that bacteria is once someone has walked in it.
I live in France, and here you have dog poop all over the sidewalks... Whe even call them "poop land mines".

Have them pick up dog poop for a certain period of time (where those lil vest that the inmates wear)
Holding a sign in the spot they didn't pick up the poop like the ones people have to hold when they steal from a store.. but there's should say something like.. I'm responsible for the dog poop on your shoes/ or the smell in your neighborhood.. or maybe my dog pooped here and I didn't pick it up..
Take all their shoes and rub them in it.

I think 5 hours of service at an animal shelter would be good.
One could expect the shelter director to put the "volunteer" to work cleaning up the dog run and the cages; that'll give him/her a chance to master the art of poop pickup.

Dog poop is ecologically friendly, bio-degradable, and an excellent fertilizer. Instead of complaining about dog poop, you should be thanking dogs for it.
Meet with local dog owners and request dog poop for your home and yard. Use it in potted plants or flower gardens. Go green.
Stop global warming. Think globally and act locally. Embrace the poop.

Have them work so many hours volunteering at a dog shelter- cleaning pens and feeding the animals.
Benefits our homeless animals.

Put the poop in a paper bag, place it on their doorstep, bang on door after light bag on fire.
