Can one have multiple credit cards in their name from the same company?
I currently have a credit card (with Capital One, if that makes a difference), in my name. I'm also a student, and my parents have been helping me out with groceries and things, and have put my name on a card that they pay for. This card has always been with another company, but lately they've been wanting to switch, and have been considering choosing Capital One. Is it possible for me to have two Capital One cards with my name on them?
To clarify: can I be a primary account holder on one account, and an authorized user on a second account? And, if so, will there be any overlap (i.e. will my credit score be affected if I am an authorized user -- will it be the same as having multiple cards myself?)

You can have two credit cards from the same company in your name with different account numbers. You have to watch Capitol One though cause they tend to juice the interest rate when you are not looking.
Good luck!

Yes you can. Also the company can approve you for more than one credit card account with them....... Apply and see. If you are an authorized user on someone else's account - it doesn't affect your credit. Remind your parents not to close their current account if they change -- just get the new account. Closing accounts lowers your FICO score - even if you do it.
