What to drink when Lowering Cholesterol?

My boyfriend needs to lower his cholesterol and when looking on the American Heart Association website they talked about staying away from sugars and sodas. What are some simi-good things for him to drink other than low fat milk and water? Are tea's ok, such as ice tea and green tea?

Update:

And are relativly cheap?

Tea is actually good so long as it doesn't have too much sugar or caffeine in it. Too much fruit juice is a bad thing as it is basically just sugar water with vitamins in it. I stick to milk, small amounts of juice, water, and tea. The main thing he, or anyone should be drinking throughout the day is water. You should drink a minimum of around thirty ounces of water a day, even if you're not thirsty and that will help you lose weight, lower cholesterol, flush toxins, you name it.

There is a reason the majority of Americans are overweight. We somehow forget that we can drink calories as well as eat them. In one of those big sodas there can be three or four hundred calories about as much as a fast food burger. No wonder people get fat when they wash down a burger and fries with the caloric equivalent of another burger. Sorry to rant but hope any of this info is useful.

Source(s): Whatever you do don't drink soy! It is toxic and if consumed regularly it can lead to some funky stuff. http://www.soyonlineservice.co.nz/03toxins.htm

I all so was taking Lipitor for cholesterol, but then my doctor switched me to Caduet. A combination Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure medication, for several years. I have not experienced any more than normal short term memory loss. My long term memory is just find. Now because of financial and no medical I can not afford to take that medication. and still see no change. I have also heard on the news within the last month or so that the cholesterol medications do not give appreciably any major cholesterol lowering capabilities to warrant the taking of these drugs. And it is not a life or death situation. They feel it is just a ruse by the pharmaceutical company's to push these drugs on people in order to make themselves more money. Diet and exercise will do the same thing and better. And you can keep the money in your pocketbook.
