Car bogs down.... Any ideas?

Car bogs down.... Any ideas?

Driving down the road at 65, cruise engaged i start to slow down, but the pedal starts to go all the way to the floor. What would cause that? the car itself didn't die, it just wouldn't allow the speed to increase? 96 Cadillac Seville STS automatic. Thanks in advance.

Update:

If the filter was clogged, wouldn't the car die altogether? If it isn't getting fuel, than how does it remain running?

1996 is ODB-II so it should throw a code of some sort if it were a sensor....but from the sounds of it it's most definitely a fuel/air mixture problem...Like the others say a fuel filter could be the issue... I'm not sure about the Caddy filter but it's most likely inside the tank which is a PITA. .
