Boy Scouts - Can Boy Scouts be done as a "family" activity?

I understand that it should center around the boy. But how do you feel about everyone in the family being involved in the troop? There are plenty of jobs to be done............

Thanks for the feedback.

Yes it can truly be a family affair! Have fun! and one other thing...

    1) It is odd that you spend so much time on Y answers answers copying and pasting the same answer to all questions pertaining to law

    2) Not everyone needs loans to finance their education (sorry if you did)

    3) simply because you failed at your career doesn't mean you should discourage others from success

    Have fun being a nurse...

I was a leader for Cub Scouts for 3 years and my oldest son went from Wolf Cub to Life Scout. Especially at the Cub Scout level, I do believe the family should be involved. Too many times I heard grumbling from other Pack leaders that parents treated meetings like daycare, and leaders like babysitters. As your son moves into boy scouts, supporting his troop and giving him what ever assistance is appropriate with out doing things for them or pushing is great. Let the troop leader know what you are available to help with. Prep for earning certain merit badges can be made into family activities. Hiking, Camping and Orienteering can be practiced as family activities. Family Life is an Eagle Requirement.
