Do you believe animals can sense things?

My mom spent about a week in the hospital before she passed away from a long battle with cancer. When we knew she wouldn't be leaving, we brought her little dog Angel in to see her because she talked about her nonstop. All the nurses knew Angel on sight! But when we put her on my mom's bed, she didn't seem to want to stay.

The night she passed away, my stepfather went home and Angel met him at the door like she always did. She sat at the door waiting for my mom to follow him in. When she didn't come in, Angel looked depressed (this was not the first night that my mom didn't come home with him and she didn't have the same reaction on those days), went to the bedroom, jumped up on my mom's side of the bed and stayed there for a few minutes. Then she jumped down and went into her own bed (which was a little kennel she slept in on my mom's side of the bedroom) like she knew her mom was not coming home anymore. My stepfather told me she would sit and look up at the bed or lay where my mom used to sit on the couch and look up.

Has anyone elses pet exhibited this type of behavior after an incident (death, illness, etc.)? I know part of it was reacting to my stepfather's emotional signals, but she would sit and stare at where my mom used to be, as if she were there in spirit, talking to Angel, and only Angel could hear.

My mom named her Angel because her coat was as white and soft as angel hair, and she was very well behaved. She was a little Lhasa Apso/poodle mix and she's adorable!

Update:

My mom also had a Tennessee Walking Horse that she had for about 5 years before she passed away. Even though she couldn't ride anymore, she would groom him, and braid his mane and tail so he looked like a show horse! He was an older horse (but no where near ancient!) but after she passed, my stepfather gave him to a friend of my mom's that said she'd take him and give him a grand retirement and ride him occasionally for exercise to keep him fit. They found him dead out in the field on day not a few months later, laying out in the bright sunshine like he loved to do. They thought he was snoozine. I think he was depressed and moved on in his own way.

I do believe animal's can sense things actually. Like they may not know what 2+2= but they can sense when a bad storm or weather is coming , when danger lays ahead, when they are being watched. So in my opinion they are just as a smart as us , just in a totally different way.

My 13 year old australian shepherd / border collie mix proves this too me not to long ago. I was walking her in the long grass of our yard and she suddenly stopped. I try ed to go further but she wouldn't let me she kept tugging on the leash with her teeth in the opposite direction. I try ed once more to walk forward but she grabbed a hold of my shirt with her teeth and yanked. Finally i backed up some and she seemed happy. i turned around to try to spot what was wrong and I saw a rattle snake slither away into the woods.

So yes I do believe that animals can sense things.

I am a medium and know 100% there is life after death ,your mums dog will sense spirit ( your mum ) as animals are very susceptible to it.

Once the dog departs this life your mum will be there to take it home in the spirit.A bond of love can never be broken even after death.

Your mum would have been there in spirit and she will always be there for you as well.
